How Often Do You Change Your Air Conditioner Filter?
There are several vital things that you must do to lengthen the life of your air conditioner to keep it working at top efficiency during it's life cycle. One of the most significant things that you can do is replace the filter every three to six months.
Every home is unique and there are numerous things that determine how long you should wait between filter changes. Wait too long and the operating efficiency of the equipment will deteriorate while the cost of operating the equipment go up. Replace the filter too often and you are throwing money away. Considering the price of some filters, that might add up to a large amount of cash over over the years.
It's important to keep in mind the more effective your air conditioner filter is the more regularly it'll must be cleaned or replaced. For most people pleated air filters will do an adequate job and should be modified each 3 to six months. If you live in a very dusty area then you should probably change your filter every three months.
If you need better filtering you may want an electrostatic, electronic or maybe even a HEPA filter. Keep in mind, the more efficient the filter is the more frequently it will have to be cleaned or changed.
Electrostatic filters possibly offer the best combination of price and efficiency. You may pay between 2 to six times what a good quality dispensable filter would cost but you wash them when they become soiled and reuse them.
Electronic air filters become ineffective and there capability to get rid of dust from the air worsens as they become dirty. To wash these filters you have to remove the electronic cells and soak them in HVAC cleaner and then rinse them and let them dry.
HEPA filters are the most effective filters available and can become plugged very fast. They need to be checked monthly and often cause too much restriction to air flow to be used at all. An contractor will be able to tell you if it is worth trying one of those in your system.
If you are using economy fiberglass panel filters from your local appliance store and getting a pack of four or 5 for 10 greenbacks, you aren't doing yourself, your family or your air conditioning equipment any favors. When it comes to selecting filters, these are not a good choice.
These filters do such a poor job, you could leave one in your air conditioner for a year and it may not collect enough dust to need changing. The unfortunate thing is the evaporator coil of your unit may need to be cleaned each year to remove the dirt that should have been stopped by the filter. So much for saving money by purchasing cheap filters.

Appliance not Freezing suspect defrost?
Hi, When our Fridgidaire appliance food began to unthaw, I purged it, cleaned the condensor coils at the end from the fridge and set a brand new icecube tray filled with water to ascertain if this resolved the issue. Regrettably the ice required on the full day to freeze and so i know I have awesome temps although not sufficient to freeze. I drawn from the back freezer panel and discovered the evaporator coils had heavy frost at the base half (nearest towards the heater coil). My fridge and freezer fans constantly run. Any suggestions things i need next? I have presently unplugged the fridge to determine what goes on when everything frost touches away...
Interesting feedback. Kevin
Probably the most likely trouble with Frigidaire may be the defrost timer part number 215846602. This are available in the controls. It you've got a top mount freezer rather than alongside to discover the timer you may need a large straight edge screwdriver. It is now simplest to ascertain if you receive on the ground you will notice a sizable hole place the edge from the screwdriver within the hole and transform it unitl you hear a noisy click. don't visit fast or else you will miss it and need to go completely around again. You hear the noisy click you're in defrost and also the heater may come on provided it's not over the temp from the defrost thermostat. Also, sometimes the frost will close the lid on apart around the fridgidaires. Check both one one both sides as well as on the left side connected to the evaporator the one thing with fins there is a defrost thermostat, it's about 1 " round with 2 wires being released from it , when the wax side looks put their hands up then that's the thing you need. If you want more help I'm here. Best Of Luck.
