How do I take down an electric wall heater?
I have a mouse hole behind an electric wall heater in my bathroom, and I need to take down the heater in order to fill it in. How do you take down a standard electric baseboard wall heater?
Most bathroom wall heaters are 220 volt. I hesitate to advise anyone who does not know how to work around electricity to fool with 220. One mistake and you are dead.
1. turn off the power.
2. turn on the heater, if it gets warm you have not turned off the power try again.
3. There is likely 2-4 screws holding the heater to the wall. Remove the screws and the heater should come off the wall. You should be able to repair the wall without disconnecting the heater wires. If you must disconnect the heater or if your repairs are going to take more than a few hours cap the heater wires with electric caps and tape over any exposed bare wire. Tape the circuit breaker in the off position.
4. reverse the above process to reinstall.
5. mice remember, use a barrier to cover the hole they can not chew through. I would suggest metal but you do not want metal to come in contact with the heater or any heater parts.
