Relight The Spark With Romantic Canaries Holidays This Winter

When you think of Canaries holidays, the first that springs to mind are bars, beers and too many bare chests. Located just off the coast of Africa, this Spanish archipelago boasts National Parks, deserted beaches and interesting volcanic terrain. The Canaries are a great escape in the winter when you’re looking to treat a loved one or partner, as the year-round sun and great value means romance is definitely on the agenda.

For beaches, head to Fuerteventura, home to the longest stretches of beaches the Canaries has to offer and a haven for surfers and divers. Forget boozy bars and cheesy clubs, Fuerteventura prides itself on its laidback, ‘manana’ attitude – those wanting a bit of action can enjoy the water sports on offer. When it comes to peaceful, genteel scenery, Caleta de Fuste and Costa Calma.

If you’re looking for bargain holidays, head to Tenerife, where the scenery is volcanic and the nightlife pretty hot too. It’s all happening at Playa de las Americas, where nightlife, bars, clubs, excursions and plenty more awaits you. This island does have a quiet side too, up in the north where you’ll escape the bars and clubs and enjoy the quiet.

The smallest of the Canary Islands is La Palma, and whilst much less well known, it is known for one thing – its beautiful landscape. Known as ‘La Isla Bonita’ to the island, the beautiful isle is quite different to the others with a greener, lush landscape thanks to the climate.

Lace up your hiking boots and enjoy one of the island’s walking trails, which will take you to vineyards, volcanoes and black sandy coves. Los Cancajos is considered the most developed of resorts on La Palma but even there peace and tranquillity reigns.

Cheap holidays doesn’t have to mean bargain basement – head to Gran Canaria where luxury is king. Gran Canaria boasts many a gorgeous sight including the rolling sand dunes of Maspalomas, said to rival those in the Sahara.

Things to know for a quinceanera?

I work at a Mexican restaurant and have been invited to a quinceanera of the daughter of someone I work with. I'm American, however, while most others will be Hispanic; I understand most Spanish but can't speak much. I need to know if I should bring a present/what to bring, what would be appropriate wear, the types of dances I should know, etc. How late do these go? Just the general outline would be good to know- e.g. I know there is a choreographed dance with the girl of honor and friends/relatives, when does this happen, and do we join in at some point? Also, my boyfriend currently goes to college several hours away and can't come, is it okay if I'm bringing my best friend? I work with these people so I really don't want to embarrass myself or offend anyone!
One last thing: I'm thinking of wearing an almost-knee length skirt that is a dark beige with black lace over it, a white shirt, and a black belt around the waist with lower black heels- is this acceptable?

Bring a gift, like a gift card to Pink...the parties usually go pretty late...as far as the dancing goes, she will choose the men with whom she would like to dance and they typically give her money, once everyone is invited to dance, then you should go...it would be fine to bring your friend...and your outfit sounds cute!
