I HAVE steamed them in the past... They steam themselves, duh, in the microwave. Don't think I've ever overcooked one!!!
To all the other posters - wow!!! Steaming them in a little water in the microwave is pretty close to steaming them in a little water on the stove!
I do this all the time...a little water (2 inches or so) a little lemon juice and cover tightly with plastic wrap. Unfortunately it is not a LOT faster in the microwave...for regular sized chokes, usually takes mine around 20 minute or so, but I just test them periodically...if the center leaves pulls out easily, it's cooked.
It helps to make a slit in the bottom of the heart before cooking.
