Sharm el Sheikh holidays: a chance to learn about Egypt’s ancient inventions
Even today, Egypt is a land surrounded by eastern promise and ancient mysticism. No one knows for sure what went on in Egypt 4000 years ago, making your Sharm el Sheikh holidays a mecca of mystery. Believe it or not, Egyptians were almost amongst the first inventors as well as architects.
Scientific innovators, the Egyptians were well ahead of their time with numerous inventions and architectural structures throughout the country. But these genius developments are still very much in our everyday use today.Developed around 4000 B.C., papyrus is one of the most common inventions that came from the Egyptians. Paper was then materialised soon after papyrus, which we can confirm is a handy invention.

Apparently, a new tool was requested after the Fatimid Caliph of Egypt was sick of getting his hands dirty from ink stains. The result was an early form of a fountain pen which was developed in the year 953.
Because Egypt holidays are so synonymous with sunshine, it’s funny to think that umbrellas were invented there. But, these umbrellas were used more as parasols to shield their bodies from the sun and cool each other down. For instance, in many illustrations, the umbrella is depicted as a flagellum, with a fan of leaves attached to an elongated handle.
