I Need Information On Running My Own Web Hosting Business Please?

July 13, 2010 - 5:00 am 2 Comments

Hi,
I am planning on running my own web hosting company. I am going to use another companies reseller account first of all. Does anyone know of any good and cheap companies. I also need to get a professional website made. I have a limited budget so does any know which company to go with. Most importantly, I need to know what equipment, as in servers and stuff, i need. Could someone tell how many, what spec, where from, and how to set up a web hosting server? Is a server all i need? I have heard something about firewalls, don’t what they are but will i need them? Or any other stuff i need, and prices cheap hopefully. Please Help

Thanks

Ross

You’re best bet is to go with HostGator. They have unlimited plans which are MUCH cheaper than others like godaddy and Network Solutions. I host a few sites with them and couldn’t be more pleased. I decided to go with them because of the affordable price and the included website builder. I just found a $10 off coupon if you decide to go with them.

Coupon code: greatsites

Best of luck!

Which is the cheapest reseller hosting plan with best features? Please help me or guide me to find one?

The reality is, there is no such thing as a "cheap" reseller plan. These are known as online shopping carts and the associated software it requires is what costs money, not the hosting service itself. While almost all hosting providers offer plans of variety in terms of the hosting service itself, and the prices can vary greatly, the selling tools these web host providers use are bought from third party provider and the prices are set by them. So, what you will find is that the cost of doing business is just about the same for every hosting service you use that offers selling tools. There are some free options (PayPal comes to mind) that offer merchants the tools they need to get started with the option of upgrading to an advanced shopping cart later, but this brings up the issue of credibility. Most people will simply not buy from a website that does not look like they belong in the selling business. It is for this reason that there are few successful selling websites on the web today. They have earned a reputation over time and the average consumer knows they can be trusted. This should be your first goal in a new start up. You must somehow establish trust, and with this customer base build on that foundation to construct the selling empire you envision. You going to need some capital to even begin competing with the big boys in the business. To get this, your best bet is a dedicated consumer base that will sustain your spending as you build and grow. I have attempted online sales in the past and the most important lesson I can offer is that unless you are sure that the investment required to start an online store will justify the cost of starting such a venture, you can expect to have a really hard time expanding the business. Without incoming revenue, it is very difficult to sustain an online store.

Is there a free Website Reseller Program?

July 13, 2010 - 5:00 am 2 Comments

Hey everyone I just wanted to know if there was any site that allows you to resell websites for free? Like 000webhost.com I just want to host free websites for people, so is there anyway to do that for free or at least a cheap program to do so?

Thanks

Most of the free webhosting and reseller programs are gone with the wind. Personally I do not know of any but there are some that are cost efficient and if you were to get 3-4 people at $5 dollars a month you could definitely break even for the hosting. I would recommend hostnine.com they offer plenty of tools.

Buy stuff from a liquidator or dollar store.

Domain Names?

July 13, 2010 - 4:57 am 2 Comments

I checked with whois.com and saw that my domain name is already expired I don’t want to renew with my current registrar because they are overpriced, how come I can’t register/renew my domain name with other registrars if it is already expired?

Also is it possible to register my domain name with 1 company and have it hosted by another company?? because I want to go with the company that offers the cheapest domain name registration fees and those that offer the cheapest hosting fees

Is it possible to come up with my own domain name registration and web hosting site (not a reseller)

If I have intermediate knowledge in computer (I am not a computer programmer) – can I be a web host reseller? I understand the business concept but if technical problems arises I wouldn’t know how to solve it.

If your domain name is in the expiration process you can not transfer registrars. This is an ICANN rule not the registrars. If you want the name renew it as quickly as possible before it completes the expiration process and becomes available for anyone to register.

After you have renewed the name you can transfer it to any registrar you want.

Yes it is possible and very common to register your domain name with one company and have it hosted by another.

To establish your own domain name registration and web hosting site (not a reseller) is possible however it would be very expensive.

To become a reseller is easy and requires no technical knowledge, the company you are selling for will provide all the customer service and tech support. You are basically promoting their products and services and receiving a commission on sales.

Does anyone know of a good reseller webhosting package?

July 13, 2010 - 4:57 am 1 Comment

I built some sites and want to sell them with hosting and a domain name. I would like to make monthly income from the hosting also. I would like to find a cheap a reliable source. Does anyone have a clue?

1and1.com is very popular and very affordable. You have to pay for any extra services and the site can be slow at times, but if you are looking to get in the door and save some money, it is hard to beat.

Hello, Thanks for viewing.
Since I am living in a deveoping country namely Pakistan so here I am not having services of Paypal and other companies like it. I want to start it by first buying a reseller account from Hostgator. The problem is I can not afford time to support and for that would like you to suggest the cheap and best companies who offer 24×7 email and online support. Please also tell the resources to learn all about Cpanel and WHM (How to operate). Major drawback is about Payment processor, What’s the solution for this and how to do. Atlast would like to thank you all wholeheartedly for your sincere help. And I hope you will help me as soon as possible as well as will come up with the best solution suiting my needs.

What’s the thing to get sucessful in hosting bussines and what’s the minimum budget to start with?>

Thanks Alot,

Regarding the money process problem, try to use Western Union Bank Money Transfer Service. It available almost everywhere.

Best way on starting a web hosting business and make it grow?

July 13, 2010 - 4:54 am 4 Comments

Have currently started with a reseller.
Also, do you know any good and cheap billing systems?
Also, if you know any good sites for getting customers for my site, please let me know.

The cost of acquiring customers would certainly be higher than whatever profit you could expect from your hosting business, for a new or small player.
You will need to find a niche and specialize there instead of going to the general market where you face mamooths who can afford spending millions for advertisement and have an established customer base.
Hope it helps,
Pat
