Recommended web hosting and domain name?

July 15, 2010 - 1:30 pm 8 Comments

Where to get reliable web hosting and cheap domain name? Any suggestion?

For web hosting you can get it at Hostgator.com and for domain name I would suggest Godaddy.com, been using them for more than a year and not having any difficulties with them. Yet, it is fast to get your website Live.

You also can get discount for hostgator, 404page you’ll get to pay for 1 cent only. Or even you can search for "Hostgator coupon" at Search Engine(s)

For domain name, you can check fatwallet.com

It doesn’t look that bad does it? http://positivethoughts.110mb.com/

Web Hosting Account – Cheap domain names?

July 15, 2010 - 4:02 am 7 Comments

I have been using http://www.fiber9.com for a while now and have been very happy with them. Their servers are extremely fast and my site has been up 100% of the time.

For only $10 a month you can get a domain name, web hosting, 10 email addresses, and site builder tools so you can build your site yourself!
AND you get a free 7 day trial, plus they have an affiliate program that you can participate in (or not) at no extra charge!
They’re very comparable in price to godaddy.com, where you have to buy the domain name and then pay extra for things like email, hosting, and site builders.

Where do I go to register a cheap domain name without hosting? I want to secure the name while its available?

July 15, 2010 - 3:55 am 6 Comments

When I do a search, ultimately I end up with a hosting company. I haven’t decided on a host yet but I want to secure the domain name while I can. Its my understanding that if you get a free domain with a host. That it basicaly belongs to the host. If you decide you want to go somewhere esle you can’t take the name with you. I am also looking into having a ecommerce site designed. Thought I would try a freelance designer thinking I could keep the price reasonable. Any tips?

Can I register a domain name with a cheap registrar and transfer it to another hosting company? Pros and cons?

July 15, 2010 - 12:49 am 2 Comments

I’ve decided on a particular hosting serivce which charges exorbitant domain name registration fees. I’m wondering if I can save on the domain registration fee by signing up with a cheaper registrar and then transferring it to the hosting service of my choice, and if there are any costs and downsides in this.

Yes you can. I even recommend it!

PRO’s

1. If you found a domain name registrar you like you should go with them. It’s even better if it’s their core business.
2. It’s really easy to setup. You just have to add your hosts name servers to your domain name (basically you just write three lines in your domain’s control panel like: ns1.somehosting.com ns2.somehosting.com ns3.somehosting.com) and that’s it!
3. Your domain name is registered with another company so if you have any problems later on with your hosting, you can easily switch hosts, just copy your site content to a new host and point your domain to their name servers.

CON’s

1. Most hosting companies give you a free domain name with your hosting plan, and they usually renew it for free as long as you host with them, but since your company charges a lot for a domain name registration it’s probably not one of them, so it’s not a problem.

P.S. You didn’t wrote the name of a hosting company that you decided on, but you should check one of these:

1. For a small to medium traffic site (like up to 100K visitors monthly):
I recommend either Godaddy Economy or the Deluxe plan:

http://www.hosttell.com/godaddy/

(prices from $4.74/month – $6.99/month)

or Dreamhost http://www.dreamhost.com/hosting.html

Their standard price is $9.95/month ($119.40/year)
but you can use the promo code PLUS and get
$50 discount +2 Free domain names.

Disk space: Unlimited
Bandwidth: Unlimited
2 Free domain names
Unlimited domains and subdomains
Price: $5.78/month ($69.40/year)

2. If you need something better/more expensive I recommend:

http://www.slicehost.com

Prices start from $20/month.

Cheap domain registration without hosting?

July 14, 2010 - 2:17 pm 1 Comment

I just want to register 2 domains and I’m not wanting any hosting. Register.com has a $8.95/yr for 5 years and I’m going with that; but still need to register a second domain. Thanks.

Don’t trust any cheap service, many of them don’t allow you to have full control on your domain name. If you’re going to buy domain names, http://www.goldpuma.com/domain is the lowest cost service which is full-featured and really works for you ($9.99 /year). They offer free extras with every domain name:

Quick Blogcast
Hosting with Web site builder
Personalized Email Account
Starter Web Page For Sale/ Parked Page
Domain Parking
Domain Forwarding
Domain Masking
100-Pack Email Forwarding
Total DNS Control
Change of Registration
Status Alerts
Domain Locking

As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website. If you are going to create your website: 1- Buy a domain name. A domain name is a name you want to call your website. To get a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. 2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space and enable you to get your website online at your purchased domain name.

If you want to start your website I recommend purchase your domain and hosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some hosting services offer this gift today.

As an experienced webmaster I recommend BlueHost service which I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. They have a really great offer for hosting & I have used them for over 3 yrs now, and have never had a single problem with them.

They are a Multi-awarded Web Hosting which offer a Full-featured service only $6.95. You can see their Plan Details accompanied with reliable reviews regarding their service at:

http://www.threehosts.com/reviews/1st

Here I have copied and pasted its features from their website to view:

- Free Domain Forever
- Unlimited Space
- Unlimited Transfer
- Host UNLIMITED Domains (Support All Domain Names)

- SSH (Secure Shell), SSL, FTP, Stats
- CGI, Ruby (RoR), Perl, PHP, MySQL
- Front Page Extensions
- Free Site Builder
- 24/7 Superb/Responsive Sales/Support
- Free Search Engine Submission

They also offer "Free Site Builder" that helps you build your web pages without difficulty if you are not skilled in using any website creating program. (WYSIWYG: What You See Is What You Get) You can use this service optionally.

Cheap Domain?

July 14, 2010 - 12:39 pm 2 Comments

I am giving away a free domain on my site and I was wondering where is a good place to buy a cheap domain? My hosting I have right now comes with domain add ons so I have a host.

Any good suggestions?

The one I use is Hostmonster.com About $7-$8 per month. Includes a lot of extras (email, calendar, surveys, web tools, statistics, credit card and business features, 5 gb of storage,cPanel). It’s located in Utah, so download speeds are fast and reliable.

I need cheap domain hosting?

July 13, 2010 - 1:26 am 5 Comments

I am looking for a domain hosting company that offers cheap prices and comes with decent amount of space and bandwidth. They should support all programming languages and offer addon domains. thanks in advance.

By cheap if you mean $3-$7, you are in luck. I say this because competition has driven the price of web hosting so low that most people can afford a website now a days. I personally recommend going with Inmotion because they are $3.00 per month deal that comes with 100 gb space and 1 Tb of monthly traffic. You have to pay 2 years in advance if you want to lock the $3.00 price and its only $72.00.

Here is a list of top web hosting companies based on price and features – http://www.sparkhaven.net/
